Morghan Leia Richardson, Esq.
Ms. Richardson's practice is focused on Divorce and Divorce Mediation. She is also experienced in litigation, family law issues that accompany Divorce, such as Child Support and Custody, Spousal Support and Marital Property issues, including asset discovery and protection. Ms. Richardson has been named by Super Lawyers as one of New York's Rising Stars (best attorneys who are 40 or under).
My philosophy is to approach each case from the perspective of the best interests of my clients. As the divorced parent of young children, I know the difficult balance working parents deal with on a daily basis. Divorce only further complicates that balance and can have severe developmental consequences for children. Divorce Mediation may take some of the stress and pressure of Divorce off the children and allow the divorcing couple to re-shape their relationship with a focus on placing their kids' interests first.
Of course, some cases are not suited for a low-conflict, mediated or collaborative approach and require the skills of an aggressive courtroom attorney. This is where my experience representing Fortune-500 companies in the national and international high-stakes litigation arena will benefit you.
Lagniappe (“A little something more”) about me: I was graduated from Tulane Law School, in New Orleans, Louisiana, during which time I worked as an extern for Federal Magistrate Judge Louis Moore in the United States Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, and served as a Managing Editor of the prestigious Tulane Maritime Law Journal. I also enjoyed eating lots of spicy Cajun seafood.
Prior to law school, I worked as an investigative newspaper reporter in Texas and Florida, winning the Associated Press Managing Editors of Texas Award in Investigative Journalism for a story I wrote about a botched and suspicious adoption case.
I am admitted to the state bar in Maryland and New York, and also the District of Columbia, as well as the following federal courts: United States District Court for the District of Maryland; United States District Court for the Southern District of New York; and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
I am a member of the New York State Bar Association, currently serving on the Committee for Women in the Law. I have been named a Super Lawyer's New York Rising Star (top lawyers under 40), and American Society of Legal Advocates' Top 40 Lawyer Under 40.
